Barbecue Bean and Cheese Chili
A good chili is meant to be bold and should be exploding with full-bodied flavors and this recipe delivers just that.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. lean ground beef
- 2 medium onions coarsely chopped
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. cumin
- 1 cup barbecue sauce Try Caraluzzi's Honey Barbecue Sauce
- 1 28 oz. can crushed or diced tomatoes, undrained Try Caraluzzi's Crushed Tomatoes
- 1 15 oz. can tomato sauce
- 2 14 oz. cans black beans, rinsed and drained
- 1/4 cup real bacon bits or crumbled cooked bacon
- 2 cups 8 oz. Sargento® Artisan Blends® Shredded Double Cheddar Cheese or Sargento® Traditional Cut Shredded Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese, divided
Instructions
- Brown ground beef with onions in a 4-quart saucepan 8 to 10 minutes; pour off drippings
- Stir in chili powder, cinnamon and cumin; cook 1 minute
- Add barbecue sauce, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and black beans; mix well
- Bring to a boil over high heat
- Reduce heat; simmer 20 minutes
- Stir in 1 cup cheese and bacon bits
- Ladle into bowls, top with remaining cheese
